NC Public Power is committed to energy efficiency and renewable energy options to meet the growing demand of public power communities. Our energy efficiency and renewable energy programs are tailored to achieve compliance with North Carolina’s Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Portfolio Standard (REPS) by the timelines established through the legislation.

NCMPA1 is happy to announce the planned commissioning of its first Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Renewable Energy plant in Shelby, NC. This plant will produce 100% renewable solar energy. The plant has a generating capacity of 1 MW. NCMPA1 also has incentive programs aimed at encouraging its customers to install both solar PV panels, as well as solar thermal installations. NCMPA1 is currently investigating renewable generation using landfill waste gas as a fuel. NCMPA1 has purchased Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) from wind, biomass, and solar electricity generators.
