The ElectriCities Library maintains a vast array of resources that are available for use by its members either on-site or on loan for a two-week period. Two of the most popular sets of resources are Safety and Training videos and the CD-I Interactive video collection. Several of our newest safety training videos are listed below and may be checked out for a two-week period. Use of the training videos is free to ElectriCities members. Please insure each video for $300 when you return it to the ElectriCities Library. Additional training videos are available from the Safety & Training and Marketing departments.


Safety Training Videos

Electric Safety: Basic Principles (V300) Run Time: 15 min.
When working around electricity, maintaining personal safety requires knowledge and application of basic electrical safety principles, safe work practices, and correct emergency response procedures. This video also defines common electrical terms.

Electrical Emergencies: Proper Response (V301) Run Time: 13 min.
This program covers critical information such as the three levels of electric shock, common causes and classifications of fire, and proper first aid measures that should be administered to victims of shock or smoke inhalation.

Eye Protection: See The Whole Picture (V303) Run Time: 19 min.
This video explains the importance of proper eye protection. Reviewing essential procedures, it focuses on avoiding eye injuries and covers procedures should an accident occur.

Incident Reporting: You Can Save a Life (V304) Run Time: 16 min.
Sometimes people don’t report hazards and near-accidents because they are afraid of being called a “snitch.” This video explains the purpose of reporting hazards in order to control dangerous situations and prevent injuries.

Safety Meetings: Give’em What They Want (V305) Run Time: 16 min.
This video explains how to conduct the best safety meetings. Emphasis is on getting the most from the meetings, regardless of their length.

Powered Hand Tool Safety: Handle With Care (V306) Run Time: 19 min.
Cautions viewers to consider the many dangers that are involved in using powered hand tools, both on and off the job.

Groundskeeping Safety: Dealing with Bugs and Critters (V307) Run Time: 16 min. Teaches how to recognize and avoid potentially dangerous pests such as snakes and bugs that can bite, sting, and cause serious harm.

Leadership Skills for Safety: Supervisor Safety (V308) Run Time: 24 min.
Explains how the supervisor is one of the key components of a successful safety process. Includes discussion of Job Safety Analysis.
