The ElectriCities Library maintains a vast array of resources that are available for use by its members either on-site or on loan for a two-week period. Two of the most popular sets of resources are Safety and Training videos and the CD-I Interactive video collection. For information about other resources, please call or email Robby Humphreys at 800-768-7697, ext. 6102.

Several of our newest safety training videos are listed below and may be checked out for a two-week period. Use of the training videos is free to ElectriCities members. Please insure each video for $300 when you return it to the ElectriCities Library. Additional training videos are available from the Safety & Training and Marketing departments.

“Working Safely in Hot Environments” (V 431)

This video explains the symptoms of illnesses that can be caused by working in hot environments. The program also teaches prevention and first aid for heat-related illnesses.

“Systems Lifting 2000” (V 432)

Explains the entire “back system”: vertebrae, discs, ligaments & muscles. Discusses causes of back pain, lifting techniques, and site-specific & function training. Highlights prevention of back injuries through exercise, diet, posture, and ergonomics.

Stresses the responsibility of the individual in back injury prevention.

“Back Care & Safety” (V 444)
Run Time: 15:00

We can injure our backs at any time or anywhere--at home, work, or at play. Knowing how our bodies work will limit our chances of an injury.

“Preventing Slips, Trips and Falls: General Industry” (V 433)

Prevention is the key. Explains how most falls can usually be prevented. Many of the injuries are serious and occur on level surfaces. Includes actions to be taken when slips, trips, and falls happen.

“Pole Climbing Techniques” (V 434)

Discusses safe climbing steps: Fitting & inspecting equipment; testing the pole; climbing using the three-point method; and proper aerial work habits.

“No Injury, No Accident 2” (Videotape V 441)

Unsafe conditions can exist even when no injuries are being reported. Safety lessons need to be learned from accidents and dangerous conditions must be corrected regardless of whether an injury has resulted. No-injury accidents should be seen as warnings.

“I Chose to Look the Other Way” (Videotape V442)

A worker chooses to look the other way when his co-worker is putting himself in danger. The result is a fatal accident. The lesson: speak up when you observe procedures being violated.
